Anybody ever collect Elf Quest as a kid/teen?

I got hooked with the first issue and became a big fan of the Pini's. Probally my all time favorite non-super hero title, Any other fans here at the Museum? I know it's a lot more fantasy based, and super hero stuff seems to be the favorite around here, but the story was fantastic and the artwork was great.

Wasn't really into it. Had a couple issues from the the various 3 packs of comics. Was mostly after the issues of Groo that were in them.

          Yes!

I was really into Elfquest back in the day. These were the b&w, slightly over-sized issues. Loved the story and the artwork. It was the first non-superhero book I ever purchased. I remember seeing the cover of issue two was really entranced.

I always wished there were figures made of the characters.

There were! I'll see if I can find a link to them. I think they did Cutter,Skywise,Leetah, and that flying elf guy (glytak?) I can't remeber his name. I've only got a few issues of the b&w ones, love those covers much more than the Epic/Marvel comics from the 80's.
What I loved back then was characters died, unlike superhero comics of the time. It gave it a feeling of anything could happen.

Groo was my other favorite comic and it still makes me laugh. There's been plans for a Groo/Conan crossover in the works for years, but the deal keeps falling through.

Hey Chris, Here's a link to a lot of Elfquest figures on the bay, rough shape but proof they exist at least. could probably pick up carded figures for $10 a piece.

I loved Elfquest back in Jr High. Lost interest though by the time they started the new stories. Always wanted to see that Elfquest movie they talk about every few years. I even met Richard Pini one time, real nice guy. Lived in same area and he used to bring the latest EQ comics to my local shop.

This always seemed to be a property on the cusp of really breaking out into the mainstream, but it hasn't yet. Never was into it myself, but my wife liked it. We used to sell quite a few copies at the comic shop I worked at in college. One of the few comics that seemed to appeal to both males and females across the board.
