    Action comics #831

This is one of the best single issues I've read since getting back into comics. I pretty much get into anything with Supes and Shazam or Shazam related, so when I read this was Superman vs. Black Adam, I had to get it. I was not disappointed

I'm surprised how they've changed Adam from a maniac into almost a noble villain with wit and a slight sense of humor. He actually shows a sense of honor. I've no idea about 52 or whatever happened in that, but this book showcases his star potntial. I ordered WWIII to read another BA book.

Plus, I've rarely seen John Byrne's art look so good. He finally got smart and has someone else inking him. This team rivals the Byrne/Austin X-Men run. As a Byrne fan of old, it's good to see him working again and at a human pace. He once told me he completed an issue of FF in a day, inks and all.

I'm likely the only one here who liked this book, but it made an impression. I'll have to investigate the rest of Byrne's run on this title. Great stuff.

It took Dang near the Entire Hero's in the DC Universe to take down Black Adam in WW3 .... Inwhich I thought was Highly unlikey.. But I enjoyed the books for what they were worth.

Black Adam has a subplot running in JSA right now. Looks like Isis is on her way back.
Tomorrow is the most important thing in life. Comes into us at midnight very clean. It's perfect when it arrives and it puts itself in our hands. It hopes we've learned something from yesterday.

Maybe it's just me, but i think Black Adam is too over-exposed lately....considering the freakin' mess his foes, The Marvel Family, have become recently in the DC Universe.

Agree with Anthony on Black Adam being WAY overused. It's just like the Joker back in the late 40s-early 50s. He was in every other Batman book. Same with Adam. It seems he makes an appearance in one title a month. I used to like him, but no character can stand up to that exposure. He's become the DCU's Wolverine!

I hadn't realized he was in such demand. I know he was central in 52, but I never picked up those books. I'm more or less going through back issues with him in it. I think maybe DC finally realized after a few decades what kind of cool villain they actually had and are overcompensating for is underuseage. Instead of him being an egomaniac with no impulse control, they've apparently turned him into a tactician with his own sense of honor and nobility. He could be the Doctor Doom of the DCU if done right. I'm probably the only one who'd like that, though.

If DC put half that effort into making Captain Marvel viable without udermining the history of the character, Shazam would be a top-selling book.

    Dude, 100 percent agreed.

I love Shazam and his history, as goofy as it is sometimes, and would like nothing more than to see a serious monthly with a mainstream, contemporary artist. My initial thoughts would be an All-Star Shazam book with Mark Waid and John Byrne. Something like that could completely revive the character and undo what Winnick did during Trials.

It appears, however, that's already happening. DC announced a second Justice League book, and CAp Marvel Jr is on the team back in blue.
