He's no good to me dead...

Halloween 1980 and that's yours truly rocking the Ben Cooper Boba Fett outfit. I really liked this suit for a couple of reasons, the first being that you could see through the mask but people couldn't see in real well, the other being that the picture on the front of the smock totally looked like the actiuon figure that I mailed away for a year or so earlier.

I love 70's nostalgia, but I have to say, store bought Halloween costumes for kids today are far better than that Ben Cooper crap. Cheap plastic masks with a smock that features a picture of the character you are supposed to be. I think I only had one of those types of costumes as a kid, Wile E. Coyote when I was 4 years old. My mother hated those costumes and almost always made a cool costume for me (including The Mummy, Robin Hood, a robot, various KISS members, and a kick butt Superman costume when I was five). But I'll admit that she started cheaping out a bit when I got older ("I'll make you a Batman mask and cape, but you can wear your black coat and I'll make an emblem for it" ). I just wish she took a damn photo of some of them, but she never did, so I only have the memories.

Sorry Brian, I didn't mean to dis your Fett costume.

I had that Boba Fett costume too! Unfortunately I don't have any pictures from that Halloween. It seems like after I turned 7, my parents didn't care much about taking pics of such things anymore

I love the old Ben Cooper costumes! I think the new costumes for kids are great but those old ones were good fun. Most of the time though I wound up discarding the plastic suit and having my own homemade costume, but I always kept the mask. I was a wimp and couldn't stand makeup being put on my face so I always settled for the paper masks!

I found a couple of pics of me from back then with the masks, but with homemade costumes....here's a couple-

From Halloween 1979....My dad made my kiss shoes out of some old sneakers of mine, and carved wooden blocks to match the soles, and nailed them on LOL Lots of silver paint and duct tape followed. Gotta love the yellow and brown pants & shirt...how rock n roll! haha

And this is Halloween 1978....my infamous Hulk costume with the muscles made from women's maxi pads *sigh* Thanks for making me the laughing stock of all the PTA parents mom, good one....

That Gene outfit is great. I really wish my mother took a picture of me dressed as Ace. She did a fantastic job on the makeup, and made a really nice Destroyer-era top too. Unfortunately, the waist down was less effective. I had to settle for my black jeans and brown cowboy boots. (I wish we would have thought about putting tinfoil on them or something)
