It's funny... I remember buying toys like that and them actually losing
most of their value once they were out of the package and their "franchise
affiliation" wasn't as apparent.
Example:
Crappy plastic handcuffs once removed from flashy DUKES OF HAZZARD
packaging...are basically just crappy plastic handcuffs---unless you had a
great imagination---which I did NOT
"No. No no no no no no. You done got me talkin' politics. I didn't wanna'. Like I said y'all, I'm just happy to be alive. I think I'll scoot over here right by this winda', let this beautiful carriage rock me to sleep, and dream about how lucky I am." - Chris Mannix
The cheapiest toys I got as a kid could still be identified as to what they were after opening. I got several Star Trek toys such as the phaser/water gun and the phaser/disc shooter. JOHN
I forgot what they were called, but they were cardboard writing pads with a black background ... Over this was a sheet of plastic "paper".
When your done doodling, you lift up the paper to make it all go away.
They used to sell these things with almost every TV and Comic characters name on them.

Those are called "Magic Slate" pads and are very collectible.
Y'know.... there are a LOT of old weird widgets I'd love to see something on. Seems like nobody does impulse buys any more. I used to love the weird noname stuff! Gave me a chance to add my own story. The Tomland figures (8 AND 3.5 inch) are STILL personal faves, and I have fond memories of my jawas facing a horde of Shogun Warrior tops.
Some of the stuff I've been looking for:
-them weird metal "V" shaped spaceships. They had wings that shot missiles and were available durned near everywhere when I was a kid
-Monster colouring books. Really, REALLY cheap. I have two: "Sea" and "Swamp" and used to have "Flying" and "Space." Don't know if there were more; but I'd step on my Grandma... hell, I'd step on MYSELF for a copy of the "Space Monsters" one.
-still looking for one of them robot candy cases....

My Dad sold those to all Macs stores in Ontario, they were by Laramie, I've seen a couple of different cards for them, even under the Battlestar Galactica brand but never on the card that my Dad carried them. Maybe his were knockoffs.
