LOL! I know! Can you imagine that?! That would be something.
Question is, does it make sense that anyone would seal a tunnel with a forklift in there much less one with a pallet of old stock on it?

That would actually make more sense, wouldn't it? That a giant mural of company specific stuff might have been there (who knows - Superman? Ape Soldiers? Marty's smiling face?), but then gotten covered over when the new tenant moved in by a generic "morale booster" painting.

Perhaps next time you guys can go scrape some of the paint off the wall mural and see if you can see an older layer of paint underneath...

Well gang...apparently we spoke too soon....there IS evidence that Mego was there. Our contact at the warehouse sent us two photos this morning of Rubber Shipping Stamp imprints that he found on the wall since our visit.

Here's the first....to the JC Penny Catalog Center

Here is the second...to Montgomery Ward Store #8200

What's interesting is that these are obviously rubber stamps but are hand written.

The rubber stamp imprints are neato.

Hey, maybe we can contact the folks at "History Detectives" (PBS TV program) to do a show on the mythical Mego mural.

So....I'm going through my old toy trade magazines and I find this ad for warehouse space in Brentwood, NY. Is this ad the very one that Mego responded to when they needed more space? I dunno but I thought the coincidence was pretty crazy. This was a 1977 Ad but I see it in other years too.

Great story! You guys should have taken pics of the wood paneling by itself...then we all could have made custom Mego Office playsets....
