Broken Figures, If I knew then what I know now...

Today, as I was replacing a broken leg with another limb on a T2 Superman (which took me about 2 minutes to do), it dawned on me if this had happened to me in the 70's there would have been a lot of childish (I was a kid after all) anger and pleading to get to the toy store to get a new one, etc.

It never entered my mind back then to pull a head off or stretch an arm out of it's socket to see how they were put together. My thought was if you pull something apart you break it. So, I ask you all. Who used to take a Mego apart to see what "made it tick" and who left well enough alone? (my category)

Never really took them apart to see what made them tick. I always undressed them to see what color the underwear was. I was a strange kid.

Never really took them apart either. Did have some break and restrung them with real string! lol
    kite twine.
I'd have to check but ill bet i still have a couple like that.
I need to redo them right.
What i really liked to do though, was swap their clothes around. Dress humans in apes outfits, etc.
The one thing that really bothers me though, is what happened to most of my megos. I still have all the apes, a star trek fig, monsters, a few misc others but what happened to my superman, batman, joker, robin, mr mxyzptlk, cochise, etc. I cant imagine that i would throw them away. Ill bet my mom sold them in a garage sale!

I never took them Apart. I don't know why I never did. I pretty much kept them the way they were until I buried them like Treasure

I never ever abused my toys or broke any.The only ones I took apart were the smaller 80's Joes and that's because I use to do customs with my doubles but you could always screw them back

I only abused one toy and that was my Brutus the Barber beefcake ljn wrestler,we sprayed his head with right guard Deo and lit him on fire like the Ghostrider

I learned very young how to fix my Megos and GI Joes and so on. I pretty much had to with my cousin around.

I bought a Mego Superman at Zellers once, taped to his card. His left leg and right arm were off. Took him home, fixed him up. Perfect.

    Total cost, $1.00

I took a lot of toys apart to see how they worked. Unfortunately most of them did not get put back together and my parents loved to throw out broken toys!
Too many toys. Not enough space!

We attacked my friends sisters Barbies. Taped M-80's, Smoke bombs and rocket engines to them. Usually ended up with a melted mess!
