Hello Scott and welcome to the Forum! Thank you for sharing your stories and pictures. If you have any pictures of the Toy Fair and pictures with Neil, it would be nice to see them.

Sorry, believe it or not, we didn't take any pictures. But, after the show the snow had stopped and my mom brought me to a place where they sold movie memorbilia where I bought my first lobby cards set from....BENEATH THE PLANET OF THE APES. I was thrilled.

And it was Vinnie Baiera that came to photograph your stuff, did I read that right?
To answer your question about the custume - Yes. When it was arranged for me to be at the Toy Fair I was told to bring with me a pair of pants and a shirt. I guess Mego must have had an arrangement with some company to make these costumes for their in-store appearences; and I guess for the the Thanksgiving Day Parade float.
I gave them the clothes and a few weeks later it arrived at my home. I think I still have the origianl shipping box it got it in.

                Scott:

It's great to have you in here...superbadass story. Just amazing stuff. So far, I think this is one of the most incredible Mego nostalgia stories I've ever heard. It's as good as the other Scott's "Dida name origin" story. It's great because it's not only personal, but also because it reached into the hallowed halls of the Mego Corp. control center!

                Give us more!

Someone asked me if I had an address label from anything I had gotten from Mego...
Well, here's a pic of the address label on the box the Ape costume came in.

Uh, yeah. That's so awesome I can't begin to tell you. You got to do what most of have dreamed of. Interacting with these guys at the prime of the Mego era.

Okay guys, your reactions have been great. Here is the Mego Ape Suit. Taking it out of the box I was very surprised to see it still looks great. The mask however is showing signs of its age. The shape is a little weirded out and the hair seems pressed but other wise I'd say for latex, it's held up rather well.
Oh, BTW, the feet on either side of the pants are something I had made. They were made from POTA feet/slippers which I sewed the brown material on and made a "thumb'. I also sill have the brown material extentions for arms and neck I made.

Fantastic story and wonderful pics, Scott! As a fan of both Mego and POTA since I was a kid, I'm very jealous. It's only the stuff of dreams for most of us. I'd love to hear about anything more you can tell us.

BTW, you mentioned something about Fox having problems with the Blu-ray release of the films? Does this mean such a release won't be happening soon? I'm dying to see these films in hi def.
