    Fighting Furies ad from 1975

I really dig this UK ad for the highly underrated Matchbox Fighting Furies figures, mostly because it gives you a drool worthy shot of the display box. In the US, for some reason the spokesperson for this line was Mason Reese (no fooling, check it out here) Matchbox also released a killer playset for this line that I really should own.

That's a really cool ad. I'd love to get my hands on that display box! That line was another of my favourites and something I've ended up collecting again.

I remember seeing an ad or catalogue recently which showed a horse as part of the line. Does anyone know if that was released?

They look at lot like Big Jim figures.

They're pretty much in the same scale as Big Jim/Lone Ranger.

Bill= Megolike has a loose horse in their galleries, so I am assuming it came out in Europe.

I like the pirate line and related accessory packs. I also need the Ghost among other things. That is a cool display box. I wouldn't mind that whole set up as pictured.

Brian, that horse pictured is standing an a base very similar to the Gabriel Tonto and Scout base. I wonder if that was used for the picture or if it came with the horse. Are those lines related???? (Meaning did Matchbox/Lesney own/purchase Gabrial??)

Yeah, somewhat smaller than Big Jim.
The line was really too limited to get any momentum going.
They had some cool outfits, but not enough characters to actually use them all on.

Great display! Wonder if one has turned up?

Agree that it's an underrated line, I have to admit to never knowing they existed until I stated coming here. I have some 70's Matchbox dealer catalogues and I'm sure there are a couple of FF pages within them, I'll eventually get a scan up on my toy blog (see sig). I snuck a funky store premium Fighting Furies sticker into the Museum raffle this year, not sure who ended up with it, hopefully a FF fan! :-)

    Cheers,

    Trek

These figures rock, I had Capt Pegleg as a kid but as was mentioned before the line was to limited to make an impact, Had the Capt Kidd figure been releashed sooner i think it would have helped a lot also having other figures in the line, I just started collecting this line so far i only have a 95% complete Capt Pegleg, Thanks MegoRonin for the spare parts
