Hmmm t2cool---according to your post(s) there CERTAINLY is something
    wrong with being bald...

It seems that that automatically negates you for certain roles in
certain people's eyes (like yourself) even though Hollywood quality wigs
can perfectly eliminate any problem with appearance.

Besides the fact that he's too old---if you took that away---and based
potential for the role solely on his follicle count---it'd be a shame to take the
opportunity away because in "real life" he lost his hair when it could be fixed up fine for
    a movie....i.e. not "real life"

EDITED TO ADD: I needed to "google" to confirm something just now
that I've heard about for years...that Reeve wore wigs in all 4 Superman movies---

Here's an excerpt from some guys blog who had visited the "real life" Superman Museum:

"...no Superman Museum would be complete without a collection of wigs.
Not Lex Luthor's, mind you, but rather the wigs worn by Christopher Reeve.
Apparently the hair of a mere mortal wasn't capable of recreating that
    Kryptonian cowlick up front."

When I .... how do you say (?) .... think of my mindframe on this spaceplane, I'm Skywalker with my X-Wing like I was when I was a kid.

No, nothing wrong with being bald or losing your hair (like me for instance).

But I do NOT like dudes covering up their head with fake fur or plugs in real life...big difference.

That's a sign of insecurity and having a complex...and I don't want Supes to fall into that category.

    Thank you and God bless.

You're not getting off that easy

    a) You're a big Reeve fan and it's known he's worn wigs to play
    the Man Of Steel...

    and

    b) What does what an actor does OUTSIDE of the role
have absolutely anything to do with what he does onscreen (in this
    case regarding wigs)

You're saying there's "nothing wrong" with being bald---yet you quickly
contradict yourself by ruling out a baldie for playing Superman (under
the right circumstances otherwise of course)---so obviously
there IS something wrong with being bald---- according to you guys.

I think if they are going to reboot the franchise with the next film (which they need to do!) they pretty much have to go with an entirely new cast.....and lose the speedos Superman suit from returns. There is nothing wrong with the classic look suit, like Reeves wore. Supes is invulnerable and doesnt need rubber body armor, etc. He's a geek with incredible powers wearing a suit his mother made him....Thats the look he should keep.

I think the Hulk movie is a perfect example of why an all new cast is needed. This film was acres and miles better than the last one, but didnt do enough to publicly distance itself from its predecessor (although the cast WAS all different). Supes needs to make sure everbody is aware its a new take on the project....ala Batman Begins. Re-using any of the same people might make it more difficult to do this!

If I can't have Welling as Supes...I still think Routh is a decent 2nd choice.

They certainly do not "have to" reboot the Superman franchise
---I mean, that may be your opinion, and, if so, then carry on
----but let's look at the financial and public reception facts:

SUPERMAN RETURNS made 200 million American box office
and scored a respectable 77 percent with critics at ROTTEN TOMATOES.

Ang Lee's HULK only made 132 million and scored significantly less with
critics with a 61 percent RT rating.

I thought SPERMAN RETURNS was great---and if they make this
MAN OF STEEL Routh sequel---they will be making a smart move in
    my estimation.

HULK was a much better case of a franchise "needing" a reboot---
SUPERMAN RETURNS was enough of a success, they'd be better off
taking an "if it ain't broke" attitude and see how a second try pans out.

Like others have said, I thought Routh was okay. He had the look, just didn't like the suit.

As for Welling, there would be something cool for Smallville fans to see that crew advance to films as Superman when the show is over. I'm not sure how he would come off as Superman.

I do know one thing, of all the Lex Luthor's I've seen (and disliked, I've never liked that character much in the past) the Smallville version made me a fan of that villian. Lex, in movie form is always brilliant yet bumbling. It just never worked for me. If someone is that brilliant, why surround himself with such idiots? The Smallville version of Luthor was what made me pay attention to the show. Put that version of Lex in a movie and it would make it easier for me to buy into the thing no matter who wore the cape.

I'm not contradicting anything, stop making stuff up.

Reeve was balding during his Superman years?

    Show me, I want proof.

And I stand by my opinion on baldies wearing rugs in real life....LAME.

Hue...do you wear a rug? Is that why you are so defensive on the subject?

I agree with this post, Hue.

See? I don't disagree with you all the time.
