I liked Routh and Bosworth, but all along I would have preferred Welling. Problem is, the story goes that Welling doesn't EVER want to wear the Superman suit, even on Smallville. Not sure if any of that's true, because Welling doesn't speak to the press much, but the rumor is he has a clause in his Smallville contract that he'll never have to wear the Superman suit.
If they were to recast, go with an unknown. It always works best.
