    Ebay prices

Is it just my imagination or are items selling for significantly less than they did a year ago on Ebay? I'm not just talking about Megos but just about everything.

The one exception I have noticed is the harder to find better condition items seem to be retaining their value.

I just picked up a nice hand wood carved inkwell that is probably dated to the late 1800's or early 1900's. This item is easily worth $1,000 in a good market....the seller wanted $700 for it, nobody bit so I offered him $325 for it and he took it. I was completely shocked to pick up an item like this at such an affordable price.

I even emailed a person who collects similar items to share the news and he couldn't believe it either and congratulated me on the nice score.

Anyone else finding some really great bargains out there?

Unemployment is up, and the economy is down. Most of these things are not necessities and the prices have reacted accordingly to the supply and demand. Many can not spend money on collectibles and other enjoyment type items because they're having difficulties paying for things like food, gas, and rent/mortgage. New car sales are down because most are opting to get a little more from their existing vehicle than create the new monthly bill. Those that are buying are getting into smaller gas efficient models which have a cheaper sticker price and thusly a lower profit margin for car producers. Not to mention all the SUV's and larger trucks and vehicles that are sitting on showroom floors because of the lower gas mileage and higher cost to operate. When sales are down sellers have to compete for the lesser amount of buyers so some will drop even lower to steal the sale from any other possible source, resulting in an even better market for collectors. Doesn't look like the economy is getting any better so prices should keep getting better in the near future.

Prices on these are up. But It's quality. Are the Jr Whizzwheels harder to find than Husky? Same body and figs but mag-wheels.

I've noticed Sellers are reallly jacking up their shipping Fees...$10.99 or 15.99 to ship a Carded Mego? Rediculous!

I don't sell mego's, but I do sell action figures...and, I can tell you that a comparably weighted figure, properly packed, with insurance can cost $10+ for me to ship from FL to say, CAL (now, it is only $8 from FL to the ECoast, but with insurance, you really can't ship a 2 pound box cheaper)... now, 15.99 for one figure seems excessive, but $10 could very well be right in the ball park? and I don't charge any "handling" or supply expense either, that is all built into the cost of the figure... just a fyi...my company ships about 30,000 action figure orders a year, so I consider myself a bit of an expert on shipping costs, etc...
