Legion of Substitute Heroes: Stone Boy

Continuing with the Legion of Substitute Heroes: Stone Boy. He has interchangeable hands and head to allow him to "turn to stone." Made with a Heroes of the Ice Brett Hull head (two of them, actually) and a standard Mego body with modern Mego arms (much easier to get the hands to be removable with the softer plastic).

I really like the idea of the interchangeable head/hands, especially if space is at a premium and you only have room to display one figure, rather than one as a 'human' and one as a 'stone boy'...

The Heroes of the Ice bodies are basically useless hunks of plastic, but those heads are quite good. You do have to add the little black eyelid line to the eyes, chop the necks a bit shorter and fill in a little bit at the back of the skull when re-doing the hair (they've got the thin head syndrome a lot of FTC heads suffer from), but the sculpts are solid, the scale is good, and the style is very Mego-esque. I picked up a bunch back in the day when they were on clearance at KB. The tone is lighter than a classic Mego type 2 body, but some of the newer Megos like new head sculpt Kirk have a skin tone that's a pretty good match (Stoney's arms and flesh hands are from that Kirk). Compatible, regular human heads are always a welcome addition in the world of Mego customizing.
