Price Price check: Mego Silver Soldier Ape

I've been looking for a Silver Soldier Ape for quite some time now. Never saw one for sale at a show, eBay, or here. Recently one popped up on eBay with a starting price that I was not willing to pay. Also, I had no idea what the going price was for a SSA. The seller had the "best offer" feature available so I sent in an offer of 1/3 less of the starting bid, a price that I was more comfortable with. It was immediately declined with no counter offer. So I sent in another offer, $25 more than my previous offer. It was also immediately declined with no counter offer. The listing eventually ended and the SSA went unsold. I'm not sure if his starting price was too much or my offer was too much of a low ball.

What is the "going price" for a Silver Solider Ape?

When pretty specimens hit eBay and are listed around $275–$350, they usually sell pretty fast. Of course there was time (I've probably sold 8 or 9 of them here over the years ranging between $50 – $300) when they could be found in odd lots periodically, but those types of listings seem more infrequent as the collector base and prices have increased. I miss those days as there was a small group of us helping each other find/discover variants on the cheap.

You can always PM me your budget… I'm in the process of thinning out the Ape City Army in prep for the next <Go Ape!> sale; maybe I'll have something that works for you.

Wow. Odd that this guy's didn't sell or receive one bid based on your amounts.

Same here. I can remember whenever someone posted that they needed something, they would have a reply within minutes and they would soon have what they were looking for.

The last complete silver soldier ape I listed on ebay sold for $300 BIN. It was listed on 5/15/22 and sold on 6/5/22.

It is likely that the seller never saw your offers.
My guess is that the seller has a minimum accepted offer and your offers didn’t reach that minimum.

Ok. So the seller is in the ballpark and I'm a bit outside.
