Best Selling 8” Mego

What was the best selling Mego 8” figure? I’m somewhat new to the hobby and am surprised that there doesn’t seem to be a definitive answer to this question. I read many confident guesses that “by far” it was Batman, Fonzie, or Spider-Man. I’ve even seen posts from people who are quite sure it was Superman. No one seems to know, but everyone has a guess. I asked the question on a Facebook group recently, but hope to find more expertise here.

Spider-man is easily the best selling WGSH of all time, only his Marvel cohort the Hulk, could give him a run for his money in terms of popularity.

I am surprised. I would have expected Superman or Batman to be tops...

My Facebook query just received a response from “Dr. Mego”. I hope he doesn’t mind me quoting him here:
“Superman, Batman, Spider-Man had runs of 500,000 a year for almost 10 years. When Happy Days hit, Fonzie was selling a million pieces a month, so while he was in production for less time, Fonzie outsold the superheroes.”
