Hasbro and Mattel license deal to create co-branded toys and games.

    Didn't see this coming.

In the toy industry, anything can happen, including a pact between legendary East Coast/West Coast rivals.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

Matt-Bro! Not terribly surprising; it may lead to some interesting mashups.

I think Jem and the Holograms Barbies and Dungeons and Dragons characters in MOTU Origins would be pretty cool.

Lots of good concepts for sure. Unfortunately, I am not sure if any properties I love will be involved. It's not like either company is doing anything with Micronauts or Big Jim, and I'd be surprised at this point if they did now.

However if Barbie and He-Man aren't involved, I really don't know the point.

Would this help us see a new Mego Spiderman?

I don't think it will involve Disney or Mego.

Agreed, by the sounds of the press release it's just cross promotion of stuff Mattel and Hasbro owns. He-Man, Barbie, Gi Joe, Transformers, etc.

Unfortunately, they seem to be doing pretty low stakes crossovers. The examples the article gives are toy brands being used in games (Barbie Monopoly and Transformers UNO). So they are two totally different mediums, and properties that they brand the heck out of anyways. Nothing as exciting as what you are suggesting.

You're right. it's just simple licensing right now. A Barbie or Hot Wheels Monopoly would do pretty well considering but that's all there is to report here.
