Once-a-year sometime in the mid-80s, one of our local independent stations, pretty sure it was WPIX ch. 11, would show a 3-D movie. They had at least "Gorilla at Large" and "Revenge of the Creature". There was a tie-in with something but I can't remember what it was, 7-11 maybe.

I remember the 3d glasses being available at Burger King restaurants. I suppose it's very possible the glasses were available at multiple locations.
I remember seeing the first creature from the black lagoon movie and being pretty impressed with the 3d whenever they were in the water...or maybe I'm getting that confused with Jaws 3, which I also saw in 3d.
