    Painting A Head

    I have a novice questions.

I want to turn this blond head into a red head.

What are the best tools needed for me to do this, paint, brushes, etc.?

On a rotocast head or a resin head?

Acrylics should work fine. But the paint will crack if the head flexes, so some people might suggest installing the head before painting, packing the head with air dry clay to give it more firmness, or both. But you can also just be really careful with it, if you are so inclined.

Also, since you are painting his hair red, I will also pass along this tip that was a huge help to me. I tried a number of reds, oranges, yellows and never was able to capture a "natural looking" redhead look. Then Dwayne recommended I start with a metallic copper paint. The results are much better!

Use Acrylic paints and Taklon brushes. I prefer to paint heads when they are attached to the body.

Thanks much! I will order the head and give it a try.
