My Custom Recreation of Kenner's THE BIONIC WOMAN Carriage House

Here's my custom Bionic Woman Carriage House. I tried my best, but it's not a 100% accurate reproduction. I had to make a few alterations, given the materials I had to work with but I think I captured the essence of it.

I had been thinking about making one for a while. I finally got the inspiration to do it when I saw this cheap bookshelf in the store for $14.99. The dimensions are almost similar to the original Carriage House. I only used 3 tiers.

Now that's really thinking outside the box. It turned out better than the original.

Thanks! That's very nice of you to say. I do think its sturdier. The original seems a bit flimsy. There aren't any posts or columns on the back to give it support.

Great playset work! I have seen similar bookcases used for Wayne Foundation repros as well. Even a nice 12 inch scale WF.

Thanks! I've seen those, too. They probably are what put the seed in my mind. I would also like to recreate Big Jim's Secret Headquarters someday--if I could find some nice scans of the backdrop artwork.

Ronny, you made a great reproduction of the playset and as Monitor said, you made it even better.

Wow! Thank you, Dana for your nice compliment! I never thought anyone would think it was better, so to read your comment is quite flattering! Thanks, again!

I just did a search of ebay's past sales, and discovered that 3 Carriage Houses sold in the month of December 2022.
                        1. A mint still-sealed in box house sold for $1,500. https://www.ebay.com/itm/19550946007...p2047675.l2557
                        2. The second open boxed one sold for $750. https://www.ebay.com/itm/13434053304...p2047675.l2557
                        3. The last one was listed in the fixed price format for $650 with a Best Offer option. The seller accepted a Best Offer price, but it doesn't say how much that one sold for. I'm guessing in the $500 range. https://www.ebay.com/itm/23482072255...p2047675.l2557

Wow! Very cool idea. I agree that it is better than the original. What a neat playset. Great job.

Thanks, battmasterson, for your kind words!

On a somewhat related note, the Universal Studios theme park recreated the sound stage set used for Jaime's home on The Bionic Woman for one of its attractions back in 1978. I actually got to see it in person when my family and I went there during a vacation in 1979. Unfortunately, the picture I took with my camera didn't turn out so great, so I was happy when I saw this press photo pop up on ebay a few years ago. I placed a bid on it, but I didn't win. I saved the image from the listing to my hard drive.

As you can see, Kenner used some of the same decor for the art backdrop for its dollhouse, such as the fireplace, the macramé art, the hanging plants, etc..

That's really nice, I mistook it for the official playset. Been trying to get into that craft myself because I find mostly just parts around but nothing complete heh.
