    Vintage Marvel Mego ad

    Vintage Marvel ad Spiderman.jpg
Today I was going through some older monster comic books when I ran across this early Spider-Man toy ad that not only has Spider-Man & Captain America but the knock-off Mego Kung Fu Fighter!

Notice it’s a mego circle suit Spider-Man, wondering if you actually ordered it you would have received that version?

I've always wondered, was someone at Marvel (and I'm assuming it would probably be Ivan Snyder, who worked for Marvel, then founded Heroes World) trying to trick readers into thinking the Kung Fu Fighter was an authorized figure of Shag-Chi?

It totally was Snyder here. It is strangely out of place, Durham was just starting licensing with Marvel (that squirt gun is them too) but I think it was just jumping on the craze.

Ok, memory lane. Obviously had the Spidey, The cycle I got for free from a Discus record shop in Montreal as a consolation prize to apologize for a live action Spider-Man not making an appearance at the store on a Saturday and I had one, possibly 2, of the Kung fu fighter figures, I used nail polish to paint his hand as a substitute for Dr. Steel
