    I'm worried Superman & Lois is following the same drama arc that all the CW shows seem to follow- they start off well, with strong superhero stories that slowly become more and more poorly contrived conflict and overacting. When the action part of the Smallville wrapped up, there was always another block of the show devoted to the interpersonal drama, usually that troubles between Clark and Lana. My wife and I even coined a name for that last block- Lana Time. It seems like as the series continue, the balance moves away from superhero and more towards Lana Time.

      We still enjoy it. Compared to the last several seasons of the Flash, it looks like Citizen Kane.
      Fresh, not from concentrate.

        Looks like this and Gotham Knights are on the bubble and likely to be cancelled. The writer's strike seems to be delaying any final decision. Superman & Lois may die because of costs. Even with cutbacks in Superman time, the CG is just too expensive. Gotham Knights is just not attracting enough viewers, even in DVR playback.

          Well Superman & Lois got picked up for a 4th season but there is a kick:

          * Budget reduced
          " Cast reduced
          * Only 10 episodes

          So just guessing:
          *the Steel's could get cut or reduced
          *Military aspect could stop
          *Lang/Cushing could be cut back
          *Jonathan girlfriend is gone

          Gotham Knights got cut, so it will end after season one.

            I still enjoy it. But I am surprised it’s being renewed, and set up to fail next season.

              Well, that's a bummer. I wish it was moving to MAX so it could remain as is. I don't particularly look forward to a watered down version of the show. I feel the creators have done a good job of making the side characters stories compelling. The only one I wouldn't care to lose is Jonathan's girlfriend. Until they introduced her stereotypical trashy Dad this season, she was very one-note.

              Gotham Knights seemed like a trainwreck from the get-go. When are they going to realize a Batman show with no Batman isn't a good idea?

                And...General Sam Lane is gone. Not sure why they didn't cut some of the teen characters, other than this is the CW, and they are still trailing the ghost of the WB and Buffy 25 years later.

                  I think you answered your own question. The CW is built on younger demographics. I saw a commercial for Riverdale the other about day built around a character saying "what better way is there to get to know someone than through sex." It then cut together a bunch of shots of her hooking up with different men and women. Without the teen characters, S&L wouldn't be able to delve into the contrived drama that slowly takes over these shows. Lana time!

                    Sarah is basically Smallville's Lana at this point. Her plotline has ran out, so they take time away from other stories to showcase her, and they keep her because, as you said, she's a teen (or is at least playing one).

                    I never watched Riverdale, but it seemed to be the Anti-Archie. Anything BUT wholesome, family entertainment. And yes, I know there is definitely some sex appeal to the Archie series, but c'mon. I really didn't understand why Archie would license their characters out for something like that. But what do I know?

                      Wow I called it: Departing as series regulars are:

                      Dylan Walsh - Sam Lane
                      Emmanuelle Chriqui - Lana Lang
                      Erik Valdez - Kyle Cushing
                      Inde Navarrette - Sara Cushing
                      Wolé Parks - John henry Irons/Steel
                      Tayler Buck - Natalie Irons/Steel II
                      Sofia Hasmik - Chrissy Beppo

                      The hope is for the septet to guest star/recur next season, reprising their roles, subject to interest on their part and availability.

                        Damn, what's left? Just Clark, Lois and the boys?

                        "Next episode: Jonathan refuses to mow the back 40. Jordan pines for the missing Sarah. Lois has an existensial crisis about the color of the kitchen. And Clark has to say goodbye to his father's tractor!"

                          Well Lex Luthors will be added so we could see more of Metropolis in season 4.

                            They should've just cancelled it. Or changed the title to "Just Superman & Lois".

                              I'd be fine with the remaining episodes being fun, bright classic-style adventures in the Fleisher suit from the first episode flashback. I bailed after a big helping of teen angst, grimdark dread, the modern idea of Superman being considered a potential enemy, etc. I didn't hate it, just wasn't fun for me after a while.

                              (About the suits, the flashback cloth-over-muscle suit looked great. Can anyone tell me why the modern "rubber" suit always had a dirty looking "S" shield? Looked like they cut it from a well-used basketball.)

                                ^Oddly enough, they lightened the colors of the reds in the suit, especially the shield last season, but this season, it's dirty-looking again. I don't get it.
