    TrekStar: Star Trek Taurean Ape

For some reason TrekStar is haveing problem uploading his customs here so I am doing it for him:

Star Trek The Original Series: The Galileo Seven

The Taurean Ape I got the head sculpt off ebay and the face-hands and feet were painted by museum member Boss.

I got the muscle body, fur outfit and spear from CTVT, I painted the spear tip silver to make it look more realistic and the Knights shield from Dr. Mego casted in brown.

Excellent custom work. Looks amazing. Is that an Intruder head from 12 inch Joe line? It sure looks like one. Great work.

Poor 'red shirt' (A/J?) didn't stand a chance.

Here is why you may not recall the monster:

Wah Chang created the ape-creature makeup. It was considered too grotesque to show in close-ups, but the faces of the creatures can still be seen in a few scenes. A close-up of the creature was filmed, but ended up as a deleted shot. Also, NBC Broadcast Standards ordered that the view of Latimer with the large spear in his back shall not be clearly seen. When Gaetano fires his phaser into the mist, there is an additional mist optical effect, which had to be added in post production, that blocks a view of the impaled officer.

Thanks everyone for the kind responses. This is a custom I’ve been wanting to do for a long time, but the pieces just never fell into place.

When I saw the unpainted custom head sculpt on ebay, I figured this is definitely doable since classic tv toys had the muscular bodies and the fur ape outfits and they also had the sitting bull spear, although I originally ordered the muscular body with two open hands. I ended up getting body with two closed fists, and then they sent me one closed and one open fist, so there was strike two, I decided just to give up and except this body, like I’ve said before, it’s a hit or miss with ctvt.

I have to thank museum member (boss) for the excellent paint work on the face-hands and feet, I was very pleased with the results.

I cut off the plastic feathers that were on the spear and painted the spear tip silver like in the episode. The Knights shield came from Dr. Mego who casted it in brown, and finally a big thank you to (monitor-ep) for helping me post the pics.

The episode, Galileo Seven is one of my favorites from the series and although you never actually see these creatures close up, just a quick view at a distance or from behind, this is what it really looked liked.

I believe these creatures were called Taurean II Anthropoids, an exact name was never given in the episode just minor explanations on what they could be.

                        Thanks for looking.

Yes, this is red haired, red shirt AJ, but like with many other redshirt fatalities he happily returns to be killed in another episode.

Great likeness and execution. Is the head sculpt still available? I’d like to see this guy hanging out with the salt vampire.
