Truly, the end of an era. Sadly, Mickey Kuhn, the last living credited actor from the all-time classic "Gone with the Wind" has died. Mickey was 7 years old when he beat out hundreds of boys and was cast as Beau Wilkes -- Leslie Howard and Olivia DeHavilland's son in the timeless film. While he had a thriving career as a child in the 30's and 40's, he left Hollywood in 1956 when all he could get were TV roles. Mickey was 90.
Years ago, I wrote to him while he was living in Florida. Not only did he send back a great photo inscribed from "Gone with the Wind" he attached a long letter as well. Like he stated, even though he was so young when he worked with Clark Gable and John Wayne, and while many of the memories had long since faded, because they were such a towering presence (star power) in person, he still remembered some actual dialogue he exchanged with both actors off the set. Yeah, I guess when you worked with legends like that, not all memories fade completely!
Mickey was always a good child actor. I was a fan..............
