Always liked him on 'Hogan's Heroes'...

96, that's a good run for sure. Hopefully he wasn't really sick at the end or anything like that.

I think he was the last one of the show principles still alive. Crazy as it sounds, Clary was a French Jew who actually spent time in a real Nazi prison camp as a child. Maybe mocking the Nazi's made him deal with his childhood trauma better.

Loved his character Louis LeBeau !!!

Also was enthralled reading and listening to his experiences as a true Nazi concentration camp survivor.

He had an even longer run in the industry than I thought, which I read about here: https://lite.aol.com/entertainment/s...6354794ac7cdf4

Surprising in a way, considering some of his extra-curricular activities.

                    Not really surprising at all.

It's kind of ironic how many on the show were. Leon Askin(Gen.Burkhalter) was one. It's how he got his scar. Werner Klemperer and John Banner were Jewish too. Not sure if they were any camps.

Werner Klemperer, Leon Askin & John Banner all managed to escape Nazi persecution during WWII.

Robert Clary, the last surviving main cast member of the TV hit "Hogan's Heroes," died Nov. 16. Nick Thomas looks back on Clary's journal from the Holocaust to Hollywood.

and if your REALLY interested on Mr. Clary's life journey, check out the following, you won't regret it.

Robert Clary (born Robert Max Widerman in Paris in 1926) is best known for his portrayal of the spirited Corporal Louis Lebeau on the popular television series Hogan's Heroes (on the air from 1965 to 1971 and widely syndicated around the globe). But it is Clary's experiences as a Jew...

and if any one is curious, Kenneth Washington who played Sgt. Robert Baker in the last series, series 6, is the last surviving member of the cast.
