Mego Reveals Guillermo Del Toro Pinnochio line

Mego revealed their next toy license and it’s an interesting surprise. Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio (or simply Pinocchio) is an upcoming stop-motion animated musical fantasy drama film directed by Guillermo del Toro and Mark Gustafson, and written by del Toro and Patrick McHale. Based on Gris Grimly‘s design from his 2002 edition of the 1883 Italian novel The Adventures of Pinocchio by Carlo Collodi, it marks the animated…

They look good but it's such an odd choice.

Interesting to realize how long this sat on the shelf I remember hearing about it around the time of Hellboy 2. The Shape of Water Oscars made Del Toro an in demand talent so Netflix scarfed it up.

Wow, what a nice surprise! Gustafson + Del Toro = supercoolness!… and two masters of sociopolitical storytelling/filmmaking.

There's actually much demand (and $$$) for toys/collectibles in the stop motion realm, especially those that aren't merchandised much. These will have an international audience way beyond Mego collectors if marketed in the right places.

Hope they consider Wendell & Wild too.

Famous Covers used that style long before Neca.

I hope that Enterprise-C is an actual upcoming product. Always liked the design and wanted a model but it seems to have received very little merchandising attention over the years. (Well, very little in my budget range, anyway!)

It's a pretty niche choice, produced by a company already making niche collectibles. But I love stop motion and Mego, so let's see how they come out.
