    Fred Ward RIP

Talk about an underrated actor! I always liked Fred! He is just one of those actors you never think about! He was in so many great films. Yet, he never quite hit the big time. I liked him in "Escape from Alcatraz." Of course, "Tremors" is a classic (not so much the 200 sequels that followed). He was also really good in "The Right Stuff." He was always a really good character actor. Fred was 79.

I bet most folks here still remember him as Remo Williams. But I loved him in Tremors. For such a genuinely tough-looking guy, he had some serious comedy chops.

    RIP.

I didn't get to see Remo Williams until the early 90s while I was in Japan, but I remember being excited about finally getting to see it. And that was pretty close on the heels of seeing "Tremors". Thought both of those movies were fun. My favorite role of his was Gus Grissom in "The Right Stuff".
