    What happen to (Barbie) Ken

Heartstopper dolls 1.jpgHeartstopper dolls 3.jpgHeartstopper dolls .jpg

I haven't bought a Barbie/Ken in a long while, but with these new Fashionista dolls, my boyfriend has asked me to make him a set for Webtoon/Netflix Heartstopper. I found the right heads for the main two characters (Nick & Charlie) and was lucky to find a few on clearance for the clothes but one thing that I noticed was there are no elbow/knee joints. What happened that Mattel went the way of there knock-off dolls?

I liked the fact that they created a slender male body (yeah I have type) but since the arms or legs are stiff there goes the possibility of them. I could use a BTS for the slender Charlie but what to use for Nick who is a little beefer?

Any help would come in handy...

The Barbie play line has gotten really budgety. Hollow plastic dolls with very little articulation. I think the only way to get articulated Ken dolls now is in the Signature Looks series.

You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

No, he's a doll. Just like Mego figures are.

Mattel is just cutting corners for not reason. I found a few older dolls that should work with the new heads & clothes.

It's all about hitting the $9.99 price point big box retail wants. Somethings have to give to keep the price that low.

Its a shame they Barbie/Ken have become the "girl" version of Titans ( those giant size comic book figures).

It as a good thing we stocked up on BTS from $5 and below.

The difference between an action figure and a doll is more of a marketing decision than anything else. The first toy to use the term action figure was the 1964 release GI Joe. The idea that it is a doll marketed to boys is not incorrect but they did use the term action figure and is more of a statement of intent of the market more than an indication of poseablity or accessories.

You know Ken’s first girlfriend was Amber Heard.
                  It explains so much…
