    Silver Age Elongated Man

Back to the Silver Age with Ralph Dibny in his original costume. The arms are removable and the elongated arm (which does have a wire inside) can fit on either side. Modified regular Mego body and a Rookies Hondo head.

that is fantastic! The portrait is a great choice. With the mask added, it gives it a bit of a smirk. good stuff

I went with the same head I used for the satellite era version of Ralph. I think it fits him well. The expression just feels like Mr. Dibny.

Great job, I was thinking that MWC Jefferson head would work but yours turned out perfect.

                    Too cool. Love that arm!

You are really GROWING as a customizer. Your customs PULL from so many inspirations. I really admire that FLEXIBILITY to go where the project takes you.

(Yes, I probably should have stopped at one Elongated Man pun rather than STRETCHING this joke out...)

How did you make the long legs and the arm?

Honestly, some of it goes back to kinds what I did as kid. The long arm is a long wire with some cheap white cotton material I picked up in Walmart wrapped around it to get it the right thickness. I rounded the top of the arm and bent the wire 90 degrees there to make the plug to go into the shoulder hole. I just wrapped thin strips of paper around the wire until I had the plug built up. I then covered the arm in a long tube of the purple material and sewed it closed at the end of the plug. The bottom of the arm is just taped to hold everything in place and form a plug at that end for the glove to slip onto. The gloves and the boots are a shaft of paper rolled up and taped together with the hand/foot taped in place at the end. I then made a second, thicker roll of paper to go inside the elongated part to give it more support, just making sure the top fit over the empty wrist and ankle joint and didn't obstruct thing when they were put in place. So the gloves can either fit on the end of the regular arms or on the end of the elongated arm (which can be used on either side), and the boots fit on the end of the legs. It's a little more involved than what I did as a kid, but not too much more.

Thanks! It's not hard to get me talking about how I make my customs. It is sometimes hard getting me to shut up...
