    Batman 66 unusual video

Over the past view few decades I have collected numerous unusual video and audio tracks based on the Batman 66 era. So lets start:

Dickie Goodman: Batman & his Grandma

Bill Buchanan and Dickie Goodman are best remembered for their creation of the "break in" record format that consists of snippets of popular tunes spliced together and interspersed with dialog in the form of, e.g., a radio show or an interview. Dickie Goodman had a long string of novelty hit songs and dumb ditties from the late 1950s-late 1970s starting "The Flying Saucer Parts 1 & 2" (1956, as Buchanan and Goodman). His numerous other hits also included "Ben Crazy" (1962), "Batman And His Grandmother" (1966), and "Mr. Jaws" (1975).

For the longest time I forgot I had this record in my collection until I started to unpack my record collection.

I'm pretty sure I've heard that on Dr. Demento.

There's a book of essays I'm reading now called "Gotham City 14 Miles" that has a chapter on the music from the show and inspired by the show. There was a ton of it back in the day. Fun read, btw. And thanks for posting that clip!

          Frank Gorshin LP pt 1

Another Batman 66 Record I own Frank Gorshin "The Riddler"

          Frank Gorshin The Riddler album.jpg

Frank Gorshin was signed to release two singles and an album in 1966. Only the first single was released."The Riddler" single was already done by the time of the signing.

A&M's second picture sleeve single was Frank Gorshin's "The Riddler/Never Let Her Go." At the time, Gorshin was playing the role of The Riddler on the Batman television series.

IIRC, Gorshin's Riddler song from the Dean Martin TV Show is on YT. Nice to hear it again, I didn't realize it was a single.

These are a lot of fun, but it's kind of funny how almost everyone involved in the Batman series, even those like Burgess Meredith who had a lot of success after (Rocky for instance), complained about typecasting.

No wonder! They are literally blurring the lines of actor/character here to the Nth degree. It wasn't unprecedented for the time, but it still makes you wonder if any of them thought "Maybe I shouldn't do this..."

Adam West (as Bruce Wayne/Batman) sings about his girlfriend, Miranda. This was one of four songs meant to promote the 1966 Batman television series.

Batman 66: robin (Burt Ward ) & Frank Zappa

At the height of the TV series Batman’s popularity, Burt Ward, who played Robin, recorded several musical tracks under the production of Frank Zappa. The first two, “Boy Wonder, I Love You” (which Zappa wrote) and “Orange Colored Sky”, were released as a single on November 14, 1966. Two other tracks from these sessions, “Teenage Bill of Rights” and “Autumn Love”, remain unreleased.
