George Perez diagnosed with terminal stage 3 Pancreatic Cancer

George Perez posted news I never wanted to read this morning. This is a gut punch on so many levels. His art defined comics for me when I was a kid discovering comics.

    Absolutely heartbroken.

Very sad to hear. But I applaud his bravery in dealing with this on his own terms. Probably my favorite comic artist, and also my favorite comic-con experience was meeting him, and getting a beautiful Nightwing sketch.

That’s a shame. I met him several times at local comic shops. Living fla he did quite a few appearances in the state. Great guy. About the nicest comic person I’ve met.

My heart goes out to him. My best friend’s wife just had a 1.6 cm growth on her pancreas removed. It was pinching one of the ducts on her liver. She’s on chemo now. Hoping it didn’t spread. So far clear, but still crossing fingers.

              Damn cancer…

I just got home from my FCBD run and saw that. Perez's art defined super-hero comics for me as a kid. His legacy will endure.

                  RIP Mr. Perez.

RIP. His art made a big impression on me in Avengers, JLA, and especially Teen Titans.

                    That sketch is wonderful, Chris.

What a great wonderful man and human being. He was the best of humanity. Icon, legend, Saint. Irreplaceable.

                          George Perez,
                          Rest in peace and power.

Perez was indeed the total package. One of comics' best artists, a great writer, and a wonderful, warm human being who was so gracious and pleasant to his fans. I agree, they'll never be another like him.
