    General Ursus Variations

It seems there are two types of General Urko tunics out there, it's confirmed by Mego this is a running change. The new rectangle design was spotted in a Toronto Toys R Us.

It's interesting how many variants, running changes, minor modifications to (figures, package, whatever) we've seen in modern Mego.

Almost no other toy line does this. It's pretty rare for the big guys to do running changes (it does happen but not often) and the only time I can think this happened with any regularity was back in the 2K12 TMNT line, where little running changes happened in the early figures.

In the old days you'd get stuff like this but it was less planned and more of "we ran out of X fabric so we're now using this" or "Different factory did something slightly different" and not so intentional where someone higher up made a decision to change something.

It's kinda neat, but also probably a nightmare for people who try to be completists.

Are the studs on the bib of the new variation not painted? They don't look silver in the picture, but the picture is kinda blurry, so it's hard to tell.

Mattel has made a ton of running changes to their MOTU Origins line.

The ones I've seen so far include:

Dark skin and light skin on Clamp Champ
Three different eye paints on Hordak
Two different eye paints on She-Ra
Brush painted and spray painted armor on Fisto
Silver armor and gray armor on Battle Armor He-Man
Thick and thin handles on the Power Sword
Two different knee styles on all female figures

Ah you're right! I'd forget about MOTUO where we have seen a fair number of running changes. Some of those I don't think are as widespread, but things like the knees, different skin tones on Clamp Champ were definitely intentional modifications.

Interesting, I didn't know the NuMego (I mean "New Mego" ) had variants. I had a lot of new figures, none had variants. I would like to buying both of them.

That's correct, some of MOTU origins had variants. I just purchased 34 Origins in stores and online. I don't see any variants.

I just received my Ursus from Amazon Canada and its the variant-that's kinda cool because I now have one of each. I only bought him for a possible future custom, now I might need another lol

But in answer to your question the studs are not painted

Has anyone confirmed if it's a Canada-only product?

TRU, Target, Amazon… what the?… is this the reciprocal-karma-shaft of the Topps deal?

I thought Target failed in Canada.

Edit: Sorry, had to backtrack and reread: Amazon Canada, not Target.

Some say karma is a...well you know the rest lol

But I seriously doubt its a Canada only thing, rather we're just behind the US in distribution so later production runs are showing up here

Mind you back in the day we did get Old Bob, STAR, Humanoid and the 6 ST-TMP aliens so who knows?

BTW the photo on Amazon Canada is of the original square version so it could be a crap shoot as to what they actually deliver.

You can't tell in the picture, but there are a lot more studs on the new collar piece. Too bad they aren't silver like the first version.
