Super interested to see how he handles a wholesome vibe in general or if it will be a bit darker than expected for a "PG" rating

The actual first trailer came out today and wow... I gotta tell you I was not expecting this to come off so bad in this way.

It feels cheap, I mean VERY cheap. Like remember those 90s Munsters made for TV movies? Now imagine them with half the budget and that's how this felt.

Someone said this has the vibes of a 80s McDonald's Halloween commercial and yup, that's about the level.

And the acting too. Wowzers. Like I know Zombie's wife can't act, I've often mentioned as such in this thread, but the entire crew looks like they can't act here. Maybe the final movie will come together, but this honestly felt like a student film where someone can slap together a couple of decent costumes but can't actually get any good camera work, audio, locations and just has their friends bad acting in the lead roles. So I guess it kinda is that.

Roebuck has one line where he does a great Al Lewis impersonation, but in the rest of the clips he seems to be doing a Jersey accent or something. He's a talented dude, but even he seems to be just be there.

This movie is a conundrum hidden in an enigma.

Mother of all creatures great and small, YES! That's EXACTLY what it seems like!

I've been holding out hope that the film was going to be something special, but if the trailer is anything to go by, it's going to be "special" alright. Woof!

No signed paper can hold the iron. It must come from men. The words of Ten Bears carries the same iron of life and death. It is good that warriors such as we meet in the struggle of life... or death. It shall be life."

Unfortunately this trailer has doomed this movie. Even if the film is the best movie ever made, at this point, the ship has sailed. I don't think there has ever been a movie that had such a universally agreed upon trailer reception. Pretty much everyone is like "yeah that is awful". Wild stuff. It was trending all day yesterday and NOT in a good way at all.

When people are asking "Is this real?" in response to your trailer dropping, things are not going well. I bet there's some scrambling Universal execs this morning.

It's gotta be in the top 10 worst trailers from a major studio ever (I still can't believe there are audio pops and stuff in the voiceover like it was done over Zoom 5 mins before posting) and it may be at the top of the list for bad trailers from a major studio.

                Unreal.

I was somewhat excited by what I was seeing for this, including the teaser, but I will be the first to admit this trailer did the film no favors.

So, I'm the only one that still is excited to see this movie? I'm usually the one that doesn't like stuff...

No, I've read quite a few positive comments about it online. I don't know if I ever put myself under the umbrella of "excited" for anything, but I'm still going to watch it. The trailer is betrayed by truly terrible sound editing (it's baffling how amateurish it is), but I like its visuals and many of the names attached. It also seems to have its heart in the right place.

I'm not ready to judge anything other than to say; I doubt the people who have been grousing about it since day one had their minds changed by this.

The tone seems right, but it does look and sound cheap. I think the sound is just the voiceovers, not the actual film dialogue. Surprised Universal would let their trailer out like that. That should all be fixed before the trailer is released.

I still can't get over there being actual audio pops in the voiceover in the trailer. Like, that is just unfathomable. How did Universal approve that?

The sound is awful in almost all of the trailer and it feels like one of those "fan made" trailers for something on Youtube where people cut stuff together but don't really know what they're doing.

I dunno, maybe they rushed it for some reason. I feel bad because I know several of the people involved are big fans and put a lot of heart into it.

But that trailer is epically bad.

Maybe the movie will turn out alright. But it can't be good for a film when the buzz is "worst movie trailer of all time" surrounding it.

                          I guess we'll see...

It feels like those one of those 1980s trailers you'd see on a direct-to-video movie -- not a big theatrical feature film--especially by Universal.

The color reminds me a bit of what the Batman 66 show did with it along with Star Trek. Bright comic booky looking stuff. Since Rob didn't stay in his usual wheelhouse and turn them into a bunch of hillbilliy cannibals or something I am willing to give it the benefit of the doubt.

                                Yowsers….

I think the best strategy for this would have been to offer it up on one of the streaming platforms as a special event or something.

It might grow some kind of cult following or something.
