Vampira: Plan 9 from Outer Space

Here is my new custom Vampira and a recreation of her famous scene in Plan 9 from Outer Space, plus a shot with her monster pals.

She's great, and not often attempted in this scale.

Been on my to-do list for years, but now I'm just hoping NECA rolls her out after Elvira.

Thanks!! I assembled the figure from parts I got at classictvtoys with a Type S body. Repainted the face and painted the body that milky skin tone. Hand-sewed the dress. Added some padding at the hips, because it's not Vampira without some major curves! Had a really hard time finding high heeled shoes that fit the Type S feet, until my daughter gave me a pair from her Ever After High collection that worked perfectly.

Yeah, the NECA Elvira looks so great! The world needs more Vampira stuff. She was a true original.

Still would like to know what head you used?

It looks like the standard FTC WW head or maybe the Exotic one repainted. They basically use the same mold for all their females tbh... I noticed when I took the paint off one.

Any advice around painting a body? Did you hand paint or use a spray?

That's right, it was the exotic female head at FTC/classictvtoys.com

That head gets a lot of flack but it doesn't look bad in person and it has the best hair out of all the FTC heads IMO

I hand-painted the body because I wanted a really specific skin tone, plus it had to match the head - and painting around rooted hair is tricky.
A very smooth and dense, high-quality brush really helps. Take your time so the color is even and no brush strokes are visible because they wind up looking like wrinkles.
But if you can find the right spray color and don't have to deal with rooted hair, spraying is probably better for being quick and even.
