Besides the blatent ripoff of V.I.N.CENT being a combo of 3PO and R2, I always thought the Black Hole was quite unique and very different from Star Wars.
There really was no Vader character.
There was no princess character.
No Solo, etc.
If anything, I think the Black Hole borrowed more off of Star Trek.
It had a Captain similar to Kirk.
A lead female who was actually smart and even was a scientist.
A nutty bad guy who actually thought he was doing good.
I could go on ......
To me, Black Hole was way more Trek-ish then Star Wars-ish
I think that's why I always loved the Black Hole .. (me, not being a huge Star Wars fan)
I just don't see the connection, not counting Vinny and the top notch effects

I never cared for the Black Hole movie. Compared to the other sci-fi films of the day, it was rather boring. I did own some of the figures though. For some reason the only place that I could find them back then was at Woolworth's, Woolco, Kay Bee Toys, Heroes World, and T.S.S. And they all charged the outrageous sum of $3.33 for the figures. I don't recall them being sold at my Toys R Us, Play World, or Child World.
