I’m honestly underwhelmed by the trailer. Stallone is my all time favorite actor, but I’m just not feeling this. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a director’s cut that I preferred to its original theatrical version. They’ve got editors for a reason, and there’s also a reason why directors generally get locked out of the editing room when they’re done shooting.
If you guys have never seen some of the deleted scenes from Star Wars (the original), I highly recommend checking them out. Maria Lucas and crew did one of the all time great editing jobs in cinema history. If George had been allowed to cut that thing who knows how things might have turned out.
Anyway, back to Rocky IV. It is a film very much if its time. It has a very distinct, tight feel to it that is going to be destroyed if you go back and include a bunch of deleted scenes.
My 2 cents. Either way, wish Sly all the luck in the world with it. I have no problem if he wants to go back and fix Rocky V. IV, however, was already a masterpiece.Last edited by Liu Bei; Oct 4, '21, 5:42 PM.Comment

I think you’re going to be disappointed. If I remember right, he said recently the robot wasn’t his idea and that he was cutting all the scenes it was in.

Rocky III. Hulk Hogan on a riser to make him even that much bigger than Rocky.

And Hulk Hogan shrinkage through the years due to injuries (next to Stallone)…

III and IV remain my favourites of the Rocky saga.
Looking forward to this director's cut.PUNY HUMANS!Comment

I'll watch it... not in the theatres though. However, why did they start with Rocky 4? Do it with each one, and start with Rocky. Build the interest.Comment
