Masters of the Universe Origins Sun Man.

    The rumors were true.

You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

      More info.

Mattel has sent over official photos and full details for their upcoming Sun-Man. Originally created by a Yla Eason, a mother looking to have a superhero that her son could relate to, Sun-Man was a 5.5" tall figure released back in 1986. The figure became part of the Rulers of the Sun toy line from...

Besides the Mattel Creations exclusive deluxe Sun Man there will be regular retail release versions of Sun Man, Pig Head and Digitino. Happy for the Sun Man fans.

I think it's cool and I'm happy for the Sun Man fans but I hope they don't do too much more of this, right away, while we've only gotten one Princess of Power figure. As much as I like a lot of the MOTU knock off lines I don't want to see figures from Warlord, Warrior Beasts, Galaxy Warriors, etc. before Bow, Catra, Kowl, Glimmer, etc. They haven't even done Swift Wind yet.

I'm all for some POP too, but I think the delay is because they need to make them fit in visually with Origins better. They need retooled solid heads to be compatible, which means ditching the rooted hair, etc.
Even the second version of She-Ra doesn't fit in as well with her soft goods skirt and oversized mask/tiara. She sticks out like a sore thumb in my collection. I don't need her to be Filmation, but the "doll-ness" needs dialed back a lot more IMO.

I had some of the original Sun Man figures back in the day, I would love to add a new version.

Had to look up the origin of this. Very cool backstory I’ve always loved the look of the MOTU line, but they came around just after my original toy days

This is really cool. I didn't know of Sun Man's existence until I got the big Tomart's Guide to Action Figures in the early 90s. Never saw them on the shelf. The only black MOTU-type figure I owned was Machiste from Remco's Warlord line, based on the DC character. I grew out of MOTU before Clamp Champ arrived.

Sun-Man's line consists six figures, and Matty will not do Warlord. I think Mattel will go very deep into MOTU and do more POP--I want Swift-Wind, too. But as noted, the tooling is more intensive.

I'm not worried, except about Mattel Creations.

If I remember correctly I used to pick them up at K-Mart along with DC Comics Warlord. I even remember picking up those knock-off dragons and other beast there.

Side story: an older guy was looking at the dragons and told me about his daughter who was studying the Nessie and ask me how close this was. We had a lengthy conversation and he was impressed that a kid in Jr. High knew enough to carry on a conversation like an adult.

Yes, K-Mart had a killer selection of that stuff. I bought all my Warlord figures there, I loved those--and the comics.
