    The Squire of Gothos

What does everyone think of my custom Trelane?

He is on a type S body with boots from CTVT and head (shrunk using Naphtha) and clothes from a 9” Playmates figure.

    I hope you like him.

Nice job! I'm really hoping the Squire shows up in a future Mego wave.

Do you believe Trelane was indeed a Q or do you believe he simply influenced the creation of the Q or fans are simply reading too much into the whole thing?

Trelane looks sweet, and it looks like from the pic the 9” playmates clothes work well on the type S body. Nicely done, tallyho!

Very nice. Great job with the head. I never have the patients to leave them in long enough to get the correct size. How long did you let your soak? The figure looks fantastic.

He looks like a factory figure, which with the head shrink, he kind of is

                Good job on him.

Thanks for all the positive feedback. As for how long I shrunk the head, it was only for two maybe three days max... However, since taking his head out of the Naphtha I have been attempting to shrink a Kirk and a Spock head for future customs. Those seem to be taking a little longer, but perhaps this is because I have two heads soaking at once... not sure.

I think it would be very easy to think of Trelane as a Q. I believe there was even a novel about it.

I totally get why folks make the connection. John De Lancie's diction and performance of Q shares a lot of similarities with William Campbell's. But it doesn't quite work for me. Trelane's "mirror device" has no parallel in Q episodes, for instance. But more importantly, we know that Trelane acts the way he does is because he is just a spoiled child. His parents treat Trelane as if he has been a naughty boy, and they apologize to Kirk for Trelane messing with the Enterprise. That doesn't seem to match up with what we know of the sensibilities of the Q Continuum.

Getting off topic, but sticking to the subject of custom Trek figures, does anyone know where I can purchase a Mego-sized custom "hover chair" that resembles the one Pike uses in "The Menagerie" episode? I would like to make a custom of this version of Pike but am not sure what to use for the chair.
