    Morticia has been cast

I'm skeptical of the premise of the new Addams Family show coming to Netflix, "Wednesday", but you gotta admit... they nailed the casting on Morticia with Catherine Zeta-Jones...

(Luis Guzman as Gomez, less so)

Ortega & Jones are sensible choices, IMO Guzman is poor casting...although, at least it's not Depp.

Guzman has the look of the comic strip Gomez, whether he an pull off the demented humor of the character will have to be seen.

Yeah, I just don't see it. Gomez from the comics had a round head & bug eyes, Luiz not so much.

Yeah, better than Depp but still not great.

There's one more (attempted) reboot to add to the list: the 1973 The Addams Family Fun-House. This was a pilot for a musical/variety program using the Addamses as the hosts. The only connection to the 1960s show was Felix Silla as Cousin Itt. They recast everyone else, with Jack Riley as Gomez, Liz Torres as Morticia, Pat McCormick as Lurch, and Stubby Kaye as Fester. The most interesting casting note was that Butch Patrick was cast as Pugsley.

With Silla appearing here, this made three times one of the original actors was part of an otherwise new cast, since Jackie Coogan was part of the first cartoon and John Astin part of the 1990s one (even though it aired because of the movies. Astin of course was Grandpa Addams on 1990s sitcom, which, as Werewolf pointed out, is underrated.
                Hugh H. Davis

Wanted: Legends of the West (Empire & Excel) and other western historically-based figures. Send me an offer.
Also interested in figures based on literary characters.
