Anybody else long for Classic Stewart's Drive-In's ?

Not talking about anything out there today hiding under the Stewart's banner.

I'm talking about the OLD days when the girls (and sometimes boys) brought your food to your car … They'd hang a 50 pound mix of food on your dainty little side window

Back in the late 70's it was Stewart's that introduced me to the NEW CRAZE ---- "pizza rolls"

My local Stewart's owner was a riot !!!
He was IN LOVE with Elvis but always found time to insult me for being fat

I come here to buy your food in good faith, WHY must you tell me how much of a chub I am ?

Jeeze, I miss that guy --- super insult you but had a heart of gold.

I'm familiar with their beverages (I love me an ice cold Stewart's Orange N Cream) but I had no idea they had a restaurant. I'm guessing the food similar to an A&W?

We didn't have any A&W's round these parts --- thought they were just a root beer brand soda pop.

To describe classic Stewarts restaurants as accurate as possible, imagine your uncle --- yes, the one who never washes his hands after taking a whizzz … Ok, imagine him teamed up with 20 NYC window washers gents that can semi fry a burger

We had two A&W Drive-Ins around here. One was in N.Syracuse, the other in Cortland. They tore down the one in N.Syracuse but they still have the one in Cortland.

On my many drives from NE PA (Del Wat Gap) to Monticello raceway I remember seeing at least one Stewarts --- Maybe in Milford ?

BTW, driving up there always gives me tears for a classic experience I will NEVER be able to appreciate … Search "Borscht Belt"
