I've seen The Car a few times on Svengoolie, and yeah, it's actually pretty dark! I mean (spoiler warning) Brolin's love interest, who is an elementary school teacher and is seen saving the kids earlier in the film, gets killed by "The Car" while she's on the phone with Brolin! It's a pretty shocking and effective death. "Run over your school teacher, kids!"

Love the movie. Hopefully some day the extended TV version will be included on a Blu-ray edition alongside the theatrical cut.

Wow! I'm surprised Kenner didn't put a couple pedestrians among the run-overable "obstacles." Then again, they had to compete with Ideal's "Death Game" Colorforms set.
