    Top 13 Superman II Collectibles

Since Superman II just officially turned 40 (stateside anyway) this weekend, I wrote an article covering the Top 13 Collectibles from the time of the film's release. I wasn't sure I would even get to 13, but I did. No action figures, as we well know, but there's some interesting stuff out there!

Good article and a fun read. Remarkable there was so little merch for a big movie, even back in the day.

Wow, I only knew of the trading cards. I didn't even know the board game existed.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

^Yeah, as stated in the article I had that as a kid. I wasn't much of a boardgame guy, but to find an actual toy with Reeve's face on it...I had to have it. I think we played it a few times, and it got lost in the shuffle over the years. So very glad to have it back, thanks to my friend and podcasting partner Rob.

I really need to get the lunchbox (I only have the thermos) and the TV tray now. There's a Superman III lunch box too! Apparently it's hard to find. It's also plastic with a sticker, but has Reeve's likeness.

The Superman The Movie Lunchbox is one of the all-time greats. I never took notice of the plastic ones for II and III. Maybe it's because they are plastic and I never got excited by plastic lunchboxes. However, that thermos for Superman II is really cool.

^Yeah, nothing beats that Superman The Movie lunchbox. I don't normally care much for plastic boxes either, but since II and III have actor's likenesses, I make an exception.

I used to have a Superman 2 lunchbox

It was a red domed plastic box with a few stickers of art from the movie.

Looked like homemade crap but it was official

I still have several items from that list.

Another childhood favourite movie turns 40. I'm certainly beginning to feel old.

Yeah, it's featured in the article, despite the fact that I have only owned the Thermos from this set. Dislike the lack of metal, but I do like the artwork!

Back in the day I used to have a Super Villians poster (see last photo in link)

They're saying it was from a Theatre Promo kit but I could swear I got mine from Taco Bell or another fast food place

^I find a lot of promo items from this era seemed to get passed around from venue to venue. It could have been a Pepsi thing, and that's why Taco Bell would have, it and perhaps a theater too. Even though Coke was heavily product placed in the film when Zod is thrown into the big Times Square sign.
