    RIP Ned Beatty

He was 83......one of the most underrated actors ever! He was great in "Deliverance" "Network" "The Toy" and, of course, "Superman." I got his autograph years ago through the mail. He was always a very gracious signer. Fantastic character actor....

Totally agree about him being underrated. He could play lovable dopes, scary bad guys and everything in between with equal skill.

The speech he gives in “Network” is stunning!

A fantastic actor, who was always great in everything he was in. Heck, even that 1990 Captain America film he and Darren McGavin had no business slumming in!

But yeah, he will always be Otis to me, even though I know that's far from his best role. That character would have been insufferable under lesser hands.

            RIP.

After seeing that movie 20 times, I just now noticed "Teschmacher Peaks" with the two mountains. And yes, Ned Beatty made a riduclous role completely fun and compelling.

^That was something I didn't notice until getting the movie on DVD and then Blu-Ray. I brought it up on Superman Movie Minute when we covered it, and a lot of our listeners never caught it either. I think it has to do a lot with pan and scan TV presentations being the way many of us watched the film over the years.
