    Rob Zombie got his wish

He's doing a movie for The Munsters. Just not sure which way he'll go with it. Since he's a big fan,I'm hoping he goes the comedy route instead of horror.

Hoping he goes faithful to the show. The big problem is trying to replace the cast. Gwynne and Lewis are a tough act to follow.

If it's got a bit of an edge, that's fine. But I don't want them to go straight horror or non-all ages with this. The 90s Addams Family films have held up very, very well, and they have a lot of semi-subtle adult humor, but kids just enjoy it for the creepy Halloween factor. If Zombie goes that route, with maybe a bit more over-the-top flair, that would be perfect.

The Munsters played into both monster mania and sitcom tropes that were part of the pulp culture of the time. So I suspect the formula will need to be tweaked a little for today's audiences. This will be a tough one to make everybody happy.

Can't be any worse than Mockingbird Lane.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

I really liked Mockingbird Lane. I am just hoping he can steer out of the skidmark that the Dark Shadows (Tim Burton,Johnny Depp) movie became.

^Well, the advantage there is The Munsters is a comedy, where DS never was, although Burton and Depp apparently forgot that, and wanted to riff on the absurdity of the low-rent production. I just hope they don't steer The Munsters into a sheer horror direction.

It does seem like the reboots try to go the other way. Starsky and Hutch goes comedy for the reboot. Dragnet was...reportedly a comedy. Addams family was a sitcom and was turned into a dark goth side eyes.

Addams family returned to its dark comedy roots found in the original comic panels

Too bad Sid Haig isn't still with us --- he'd be a perfect Grandpa (see Captain Spaulding)

I’m fine with him directing. Not so much with him writing it. He is a pretty good director, but his writing is inconsistent at best and overdone at worst.

I don't know why but I can see Mark Hamill playing Grandpa. Maybe because of him playing Jim the Vampire in What We Do In The Shadows. Go with Brad Garrett as Herman.
