    Ljn tv super stars 1976

I never had the LJN TV Super Stars, a Mego scaled line based on then-popular shows like The Rookies, Emergency, and S.W.A.T. I would have loved Police and Firemen to clean up after my Mego Superheroes or perhaps interact with the Mego Star Trek crew. Also impressive are the number of vehicles and accessories they […]

I only remember them from the wish books. I don't think I ever saw them in stores.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

Variety is the spice of life and all of these seemed like men in blue uniforms. Not one figure stands out.

Even as a kid I always wished LJN had better sculptors.

They make Emergency! figures --- TWICE --- and both look like poopoo

It's like did you re-sculpt these because the originals weren't crappy enough for your specifications ?

BTW, To LJN -- Human skin is not orange (not counting a certain individual)

Loved their vehicles but their figures were lousy compared to Mego

I had on of the SWAT figures as a kid gotten as a random X-Mas gift along with some Megos because I liked the TV show. I don't think it lasted long, as I remembering repurposing it's gear to other figures fairly quickly and don't recall having the figure after we moved in '77 but still having the gear.

Wow, I'm surprised at the negativity. I loved the SWAT figures. I only had a few, but I liked the LJN 8" body and I thought the head sculpts were good. They had a bunch of cool accessories too.

                I wish Mattel made them

Imagine Swat in 9" format with a retooled Big Jim Camper van ?

LJN Was just so dang junkie --- see their video games a few years later

LJN's D&D and Thundercats lines were great.

For a time my brother & had a few of the Rookies/Swat guys to fill in for Gotham P.D. Were were watching Batman '66 in the mid 70's so the chance to add to them was great. I really do not know where we go them from. At that time we mail ordered for Montgomery Ward/Sears/J.C.Pennys more than I thought we did if we did not see them at K-Mart.

I don’t remember seeing LJN in Major toy stores like Child World, Toys-R-US or even Kresge’s, but I kind of remember seeing them in the toy aisle at pharmacies, although I never collected them, but agree their vehicles were nice, the SWAT team paddy wagon.

Not a fan of the TV shows, but I'm a sucker for those playsets!

True! Big Jim's Rescue Rig Fire Engine is way better than the Emergency! one.

I really wanted the playset to complete the whole lock up badguys after Batman & Robin caught them.

I do love LJN's 1980's WWF line but that's about it.

Everything else, is pretty much poopie --- including their Star Trek TNG efforts

Well if you were an Apes kid, SWAT had lots of accessories and made for excellent enemy play (*think Conquest & Battle).

… plus swivel biceps = genius!
