Great video! I really want a set of these, and I guess I just need to take your advice and go for boxed versions. I've passed on loose figures with some pretty bad paint rubs, missing symbols, etc.

I think it's fascinating that Mego targeted collectors in the late 70s. Had any other mainstream toy company done that before?

Thanks for watching and commenting, there was already an active doll collector market catering to adults in the 1970s and I'm certain diecast cars were thriving as well but this seems to be a very early attempt with licensed toys.

I think the sculpts are terrific. Some of Mego's best. I also like the more modern look of them (at the time) over the 60s designs of their WGSH counterparts. Long eared Batman! The diecast never really really clicked me me though.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

I tend to dig late 70s sculpts too, it shows the company evolving.

I had Batman and really liked the aesthetic of it. (I didn't know of 12" Parkdale Batman back then.) Very nice packaging, too.

Good video, thanks. The thought of Cap is tantalizing, I think he would have looked great in this format.

Great video! I don't remember these at all... which is surprising, because I have a real soft spot for diecast action figures. I loved Zee Toys Metal Man and Eagle Force and the like. So it was neat to learn about these.

If I collected WGSH, these would be a must! Totally dig the evolving design, and they strongly connect to Japanese toy culture too.

Man I really would've loved to have seen and owned that Captain America, wish that prototype wasn't lost!
