    New NECA King Kong coming?

So I spotted this over on Ebay just a moment ago and haven't found any info on it. It appears to be a new version of their King Kong figure with alternate heads, a tree trunk to hold and some other accessories. Maybe it's a new release that hasn't been announced yet?

After collecting Megos, I haven't seen a Kong and Godzilla I've been satisfied with yet, as giant monsters should be bigger than 8 inch figures, but I haven't seen a Kong in 12 inch scale to go with Godzilla yet.

It does look to be a new variant of their 1933 inspired lineup. They've been teasing new goodies: https://www.facebook.com/necaofficia...0748709987485/

This looks interesting, could go for some other skull island dinosaurs, like the T-Rex, Stegosaurus and Brontosaurus.

Would also like to see a 1954 version Godzilla.

^^ They did 1954, but it was at a smaller 6" scale. Agreed, it would have been better if both lines would have been more compatible.

I think my favorite Kong thus far is the X-Plus with T-Rex combo.

Saw this in store today. It is the exact same as the other, but with different heads as mentioned. Looks to be missing the fists but have some different accessories.

I find their Kong a bit too brown and not a fan of all the open wounds on Kong (hate that this has become a thing) so I passed, but it looks better than the previous release IMO.

It looks like this new version has an articulated jaw?

Neca's out of the Godzilla business.

It's well known, Playmates muscled them out.

First I've heard of it. Too bad...they made some great figures.

Yeah, a lot of the Godzilla collector groups I'm in seemed pretty bummed. There is conjecture that Playmates isn't pleased with NECA getting into TMNT and this is payback of sorts. I don't really know if that's true.

^^ From market-share choices alone, I could buy that as from all indicators NECA has just killed it with TMNT to rival their Aliens/Predator/Horror kingpins. In addition, they really did pump out some Godzilla is a short amount of time… they seem more focused in momentum-based-sales on the backside of POTA license.

My understanding is that Super 7 will now be producing the 6 inch Godzilla Ultimates collector line. They also have license to produce more characters than just Godzilla himself.

That's great news! Rodan (classic) is my favorite anyway, so I hope they do him!

According to what Brian Flynn said in a recent interview about Super 7's licensing agreement with Toho on Godzilla is that they can do any of the Toho monsters except Kong and Mechani-Kong.
