Again, you did a great job. I look forward to seeing your revamped parlor.

    Best,

Thank you, I appreciate your opinion very much.

I think it's great that you're thinking of making a diorama for yourself as well. For me, the Dark Shadow sets were characters of the show in their own right. I hope you have as much fun going at it as I have had these past several weeks and I would love to see your DS customs!

So true, for such an inexpensive show it had a fantastic look to it. Even as a child I admired the Collins manse, I always knew something interesting was going to happen on those foyer stairs.
WANTED: Dick Grayson SI trousers; gray AJ Mustang horse; vintage RC Batman (Bruce Wayne) head; minty Wolfman tights; mint Black Knight sword; minty Launcelot boots; Lion Rock (pale) Dracula & Mummy heads; Lion Rock Franky squared boots; Wayne Foundation blue furniture; Flash Gordon/Ming (10") unbroken holsters; CHiPs gloved arms; POTA T2 tan body; CTVT/vintage Friar Tuck robes, BBP TZ Burgess Meredith glasses.

Absolutely! Considering the budget constraints, it really did stand out, especially when compared to all other daytime TV shows of that era (and even some of the primetime shows). While perhaps not made from the most sturdy of materials, the sets had a very lush appearance to them with a fair amount of added detail. The newer sets that were constructed for the later story lines (69-71) were truly outstanding. That team really knew how to maximize their allotment.

I think DS had that in common with Hammer and the AIP Poe/Phibes films: A limited budget bolstered by lots of props, good design, and adroit lighting.

Indeed, the series' sets were pretty amazing. Plus, their studio space was incredibly limited too, it's mind-boggling to think what they did with what little space (and budget, as you both stated) they had.

Hey, that's a great little Collinwood foyer diorama.

                    Agreed! (Adroit, excellent word choice!!)

Yes it is astounding considering the size of the studio and the great number of sets they utilized throughout the production.

                        WoW! That's terrific!

Thank you for posting this RonnyG, I'm not on Facebook so I would definitely not have come across it on my own. That looks like the 1:6 scale Majestic Barnabas, and if that's the case then this set is a pretty good sized one! The statue on the table is a great little added touch.

I've been thinking of doing the Great House foyer & drawing room, it's a matter of time and space though.

Been having a great time with my Old House parlor, just a few more steps and I'll be posting some new pix.
