Heroes Of The American Revolution (Montgomery Ward)

I was lucky this week and was able to purchase 2 sets of the 1974 Montgomery Ward Heroes Of The American Revolution for close to what they cost. A few days before I bought John Paul Jones for $3 to see what the difference between them and Mego. I will be getting the set in the middle of next week so I will be taking the worse box of the two to redress onto New Megos. As you can tell below the original blow mold bodies came with a neck plug. The heads do fit onto the New Mego but they may need some help for LaserMego with a better neck adapter. Here is the first redo:

The original bodies are very mush like the Tomland blow mold bodies. These did not have elbow, knee joints nor could the feet or wrist/hands move. The outfits do fit onto Megos but the head could not due to the plug in the original megos. I am surprised that these figures have lasted this long.

When the sets come in I will take photos of them on there original bodies and then on there new Mego bodies.

    ReMego John Paul Jones

Here is John Paul Jones with a pirate sword since he was a naval commander.

Laugh if you want, I am going to use them in the last Svengoolie movie to fill out the Wax Museum.

I have a few of the figures myself. I just thought it was funny that your purchase and this video came out around the same time. The video is pretty entertaining.

Those original bodies are the worst. I cracked one trying to take the shoes off.

I always loved this line as a kid. I think they fit in pretty well with the AHI figures of the day in terms of body design plus the subject matter made them their own thing. I like the body update. Really illustrates how little is needed to weave them into a Mego display. My favorite was always Benjamin Franklin. To this day I think they really nailed his likeness nicely, especially for being such a cheap toy. Cool update monitor_ep!

Some of the clothing is great for customs, like pirates, and on a par with Mego. I certainly don't think the line is terrible--though the bodies are.
