Shogun mash ups are nothing new. It's no different than the Shoguns made of Boba Fett and Optimus Prime. Remember this is Mattel Creations which are very limited and expensive adult collector aimed items. It also Sounds like they are asking what other of their properties people would like to see get the Shogun treatment.
My guess is this is testing the waters type of stuff to see what properties could be brought back. Like with the Pulsar Secret Wars set. I don't know what a licensing nightmare it would be these days but I also hope we eventually get the original Shogun Warriors line back to mass market for kids and adults to enjoy.
