    HBO Max The Nevers

Tonight on HBO Max the first episode of The Nevers was released:
    HBO Max The Nevers.jpg

August, 1896. Victorian London is rocked to its foundations by a supernatural event which gives certain people — mostly women — abnormal abilities, from the wondrous to the disturbing. But no matter their particular “turns,” all who belong to this new underclass are in grave danger. It falls to mysterious, quick-fisted widow Amalia True (Laura Donnelly) and brilliant young inventor Penance Adair (Ann Skelly) to protect and shelter these gifted “orphans.” To do so, they will have to face the brutal forces determined to annihilate their kind.

It fells like a Steampunk/Victoria era X-Men series. The first episode gets a little confusing towards the end they clear up how the people gain there powers. Its just 6 episodes so Were going to watch it.

I watched the premiere. It was uneven, but it shows potential.

I think the season is going to be 12 episodes. I believe they had the first half of season 1 in the can before Covid hit/Whedon was fired, and they are filming the rest of the season now. Which frankly may be a good thing if it allows them to smooth out the imperfections for the back half.

The first episode was more than enough for me.

Ep 2 was good, but I got more out of the behind-the-scenes that they showed towards the end. The "Prof X" Lavinia Bidlow (woman in wheelchair) is also a "Mr. Sinister".

I didn't like the time period it is set in. If it was modern day, I would have kept watching it.
