A Toy Store Near You on Amazon Prime

Totally recommend the above series on Amazon Prime.
There are 2 seasons. Each episode is about 20 min, and looks at various independent retro toy shops around the world, and how the owners have been dealing with the lock down, as a result of the Covid outbreak.
Some really classic and rare toys to be seen.

I enjoyed the Super 7 episode and the guy from England for sure. All were fun, but those were my favorites.

I watched the first 5 episodes and wasn't impressed. Maybe season 2 will be better. I've bought from Kokomo and Batcave online so it will be cool to actually see those shops.

The Kokomo episode is one of my favorite ones. I do think the show gets better as it goes on.

The concept is niche and really cool… revealing the people, personalities, stories/motivations, and even the struggles behind the store front.

Buying things from afar becomes such a non-personal exercise, but knowing who might answer the phone, pack your item, help you find something, or who/what your patronage supports make for a far better experience in the global toy world me thinks.

I can't seem to figure out how to watch these, they're blocked in Canada. I have a VPN but it of no use. Some of these people are friends, I'd love to watch the episodes.

Weird, you can buy series One on Amazon

but not Series two, but if you go to Vimeo, you can buy it there!?!

Throughout the world, there are hundreds of independently-owned toy stores, each one as unique and endearing as the people that own them. For the loyal customers…

                  Gonna check it out.

                    That's odd.

I watched them on Amazon Prime here in Canada over the Christmas holidays.

Am I the only one who thought they put to much emphasis on the pandemic? Yes small niche businesses were hurt the most economically. But most high end vintage toys need to be sold online anyway, and collectors and Speculator were paying top dollar and a half during the whole thing.

I found the first couple difficult to watch due to the emphasis on the pandemic. I was hoping for a pandemic toy distraction. Maybe it was due to when they were filmed during the pandemic. I enjoyed the rest of them. I was hoping there would be some closer to me that I could travel to.

You may have entirely missed the point… toys stores who are part of the fabric of a community, a central point for a network of fans/supporters, all of which endured/are enduring a global, historic event. The series created connectivity for those outside of these communities to support the merchants remotely, as well as share in an empathetic response.
